The Big Issue is a social enterprise, encouraging homeless and impoverished people to earn an income through selling the magazine. As the COVID-19 pandemic spread and the UK entered lockdown, revenues virtually dried up overnight with street vendors unable to sell the magazine. They quickly launched an appeals page on their site to keep afloat during the turbulent period.
We approached The Big Issue to help out where we could, completely free of charge, drawing on our design expertise and best practice research to optimise their online appeals page. We focused on recommendations that were quick and easy to implement, meaning The Big Issue could instantly benefit from increased donations and online subscriptions.
